How Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is Navigating Forward during COVID-19
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College continues to navigate forward during the COVID-19 pandemic and it is our goal to Stay Well and Stay Connected. The College looks forward to welcoming more students back to campus for the 2021 summer and fall semesters. The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff are our highest priority, and the Stay Well, Stay Connected plan outlines how we will provide educational instruction while also ensuring the health and safety of everyone on our campuses.
The 2021 summer and fall semesters will continue a hybrid format for most courses, with more classes held in-person while following safety recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the North Carolina Community College System, state and local health offices, and our College leadership team.
This summer and fall, Rowan-Cabarrus will offer a full schedule of courses as part of our certificate, diploma and degree programs. Classes will continue to be offered in three formats: 1) 100% online courses that are offered synchronously or asynchronously, 2) blended and hybrid classes that combine the online experience with in-person instruction, and 3) a limited number of fully in-person courses.
Students should check WebAdvisor or consult their advisor for the most current information about their courses, and be sure to check the notes that are included in their WebAdvisor schedule.
In-Person and Blended Instruction
Many of our technical and health science courses will have some portion taught in-person on our campuses. These courses have the letter “W” in WebAdvisor (for example, AHR 110 100W), representing blended instruction which means that these courses may also have an internet component, where assignments can be completed online.
The following curriculum programs will be held in-person on campus:
- Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration
- Automotive and Transportation
- Basic Law Enforcement Training
- Construction Management
- Dental Assisting
- Electrical Systems
- Engineering and Drafting
- Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Physical Therapist Assistant
In addition to the curriculum programs, many Continuing Education courses will be held in-person including courses related to firefighting, law enforcement, paramedic, EMT, certified production technician and more. A full listing of the Continuing Education classes being offered in-person is available on their website.
Online and Hybrid Instruction
Rowan-Cabarrus offers outstanding online courses taught by certified faculty members. To confirm how your course will be offered, please log into WebAdvisor and review the comments associated with each of your courses.
We have also moved some other courses online that were previously Blended (W) or Hybrid (H). These courses will meet in-person, asynchronously online (no scheduled time) or synchronously online (regularly designated time), virtually, through Zoom or Microsoft Teams. To confirm how your course will be offered, please log into WebAdvisor and review the comments associated with each of your courses.
The most important thing you can do before the summer and fall semester begins is to read your student email and the content related to your classes carefully. This will ensure that you understand the method of instruction and details for your class. If you have any questions, please reach out to your instructor or the chairperson in your program area. - Fall 16-Week, 8-Week, and 4-Week terms begin August 16
Academic Advising and Student Success Services
Rowan-Cabarrus currently has virtual and in-person support available for current students and prospective students to receive admissions, financial aid, advising and registration services. Additional services, such as transcripts and records, veterans’ services, career and job-search resources and wellness center assistance, also are available virtually and in person.
Drop-In Admissions, Financial Aid and Advising Support
Beginning May 1, Student Services Support will be available on campus Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We will also have virtual services available Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These services include our website chatbot, personal advising drop-in sessions with advisors and scheduled appointments.
Our financial aid experts are available to assist with any of your financial needs. If you need financial assistance for the upcoming year, please complete your FAFSA now! You could be eligible for federal, state, or institutional aid. Pell grants (up to $6,495 per year depending on student eligibility) will cover more than the cost of the College’s affordable tuition.
Any student who has not completed an application for financial aid may do so at www.fafsa.gov. Our school code is 005754. Financial aid packages are currently being awarded for 2020-2021, so students may check their award status and financial information on their WebAdvisor/Self-Service account. Students are encouraged to pay their bill online using the Student Self-Service Portal, but the Navigation Station is open Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to assist with applications, payments, residency requirements and other issues. To make an appointment, email email@example.com.
Student Wellness Center
Students who need assistance can access free services through the Student Assistance Program for themselves and immediate family members 24/7/365. Counseling, legal services, financial services and online services can also be accessed by calling 800-633-3353.
Students can access the Food and Resources Pantries located in the Student Wellness Centers at North and South campuses or contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements at another campus location. Students can also contact the Wellness Center for community resources or referrals for counseling support.

Helping You Stay Safe
As the College conducts classes and services on campus, students, faculty and staff must comply with all safety protocols. While vaccinations are becoming more readily available, we recognize that not everyone will be vaccinated or choose to be vaccinated before the start of the 2021 summer and fall semesters. While we are still learning more about vaccinations, we still must follow safety guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Wear a Face Covering
While on campus, all individuals are required to wear an appropriate face covering over the nose and mouth. Anyone who does not comply with the requirement to wear a face-covering will be asked to leave campus and must have one before returning.
Practice the 3 Ws
While on campus, please practice the “3 Ws” as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Wear a face covering, wait six feet apart to avoid close contact with others, and wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
When you arrive on campus, you will notice signage on doors and in common areas and we’re asking that everyone take a self-assessment when they arrive to ensure the safety of others.
Please do not come to campus if:
- you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms,
- you have been directed to quarantine due to a COVID-19 exposure,
- you have tested positive for covid-19 in the past 10 days, or
- you are awaiting COVID-19 test results

The College’s ITS Help Desk offers technical support for students and employees Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is available on campus to provide support by appointment.
