About Summer Institute

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is committed to ongoing development of its faculty, and proactively supports and encourages continued development to enhance the faculty’s educational background, former training and instructional expertise. One example of this commitment to faculty development is the annual Summer Institute, hosted by the Center for Teaching &Learning.

Summer Institute provides faculty with various tracks of professional development subjects via workshops and collaborative activities. Internal and external speakers are invited to present on a variety of topics, such as student engagement, retention, class management, technology tools and applications, instructional trends, College initiatives, innovations in instruction, etc. The length of the Summer Institute is dependent on College schedule and available budget.

Summer Institute Planning Committee

The planning committee provides direction and input for all aspect of Summer Institute, including: theme, programming and communication/marketing. Committee members support Summer Institute by acting as ambassadors and promoting Summer Institute within their areas of influence.

Committee Members include:

  • CTL Director (Chair)
  • Full and Part-Time faculty (both self-selected and by nomination by dean or program chair)
  • A minimum of one academic dean or associate dean
