Technical Requirements

Students taking Internet or Hybrid courses are required to have access to and use the following software and equipment:

Computer

Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac OS 10.8, Mac OS 10.9, Mac OS 10.10, Chrome OS

Reliable internet connection – high-speed internet is highly recommended.

Internet Browser

Important: Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are not currently compatible with Blackboard. Please use one of the following browsers. Run the browser checker to see if Blackboard Learn supports your browser.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Version XI or higher. To ensure you can access all PDF files, download the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Word Processing Software

Microsoft Word, version 2016 or higher, WordPad, or OpenOffice software is recommended. It is important to note that some courses require specific applications and versions for word processing. Please check your course syllabus or contact your instructor for full details on course specific word processing needs.

In classes where Microsoft Office 2016 is required, computers must have at least the following according to the Microsoft system requirements website:

  • Computer and processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster x86-bit or x64-bit processor with SSE2
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Hard disk: 3 GB available disk space
  • Graphics: Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX 10 graphics card.
  • Operating system: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 10 Server, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2008 R2. For the best experience, use the latest version of any operating system.
