Rowan-Cabarrus Honors Our Local Heroes

First responders brave challenges every day to keep us safe. In honor of their hard work and dedication, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College would like to celebrate and show support to our local heroes for selflessly protecting and serving our communities.

Every month we will feature members and former students of our local EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement agencies to show our thanks to these local heroes.

Medal of Valor Concord recipients

Concord Police Department

Our Local Heroes for June earned the prestigious Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, the highest national award for bravery by a public safety officer, and visited the White House for the official medal presentation. The award is presented annually to officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life. NC State Bureau of Investigation agent trainee and former Concord Police Officer Kaleb Robinson, Concord Police Officers Paul Stackenwalt and Kyle Baker, and, posthumously, Concord Police Officer Jason Shuping were presented awards by President Biden, with Haylee Shuping accepting on behalf of her husband. All of these officers completed law enforcement training or continuing education at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College
