Homicide/Death Investigation Certificate

The Homicide/Death Investigation Certificate is a comprehensive series of classes designed to give the program participant a wholistic view of contemporary investigative methodologies used in all types of death investigation. Participants will be exposed to a wide variety of investigative techniques, including interview and interrogation; statement analysis; psychological motivations; crime scene interpretation; criminal offender profiling; and much more. The participant will have the added benefit of networking with other homicide investigators in the region to form cooperative working relationship to share information, techniques, and resources.

This certificate program has a list of core courses which are supplemented by elective courses listed below. Credit for elective hours may also be given for other courses that meet certain criteria. The determination for acceptance of other elective courses will be made on a case by case basis.

*Since some of the core and elective courses are accepted in both Homicide/Death Investigation Certificate and Forensics/Crime Scene Certificate programs, attendees can use the credit hours from those classes toward both certificates if they choose.
