Summer Enrichment Programs

                              Summer Enrichment Programs FAQs

Will we have summer camps in 2023?

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is geared up once again to offer summer enrichment opportunities for school-aged children for Summer of 2023. While the uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus continues, we continue to take a guarded approach but have chosen to offer a limited number of in-person small summer camps aimed at introducing students to science, engineering, and creative thinking. This year we are offering something new that will challenge campers in subjects ranging from art to zoology with virtual escape rooms. You don’t want to miss the fun of treasure hunts, puzzles, animated adventures, and lots of trips around the world.

Camp sizes are limited so sign up today! Face mask requirements will align with the current community college’s policies during the summer months, and social distancing will be strongly encouraged.

Who can attend the camps?

Kids from age 8 and up can attend camps. However, some camps have an age limit so please be sure to review the age range listed in the camp description.

When are the camps offered?

The dates and times for all camps are listed on the flyer and on the registration information pages. Camps meet for half days Monday through Friday from either 9am-12pm or from 1-4 pm, except for the Welding camps which meet from 8am-12pm.

Where are camps located?

We will be holding Summer Camps on both the Concord and Salisbury campus. Locations are listed for each camp along with dates and times. Prior to camp, parents will receive confirmation materials including directions to the specific campus and the location(s) of the classroom.

How much do the camps cost per session?

All camps are priced at $179.00.

When are payments due?

Full payment is due at the time of registration in order to hold a place for your child. Camps will be filled on a first-paid, first-served basis. Instructions for payment will be provided at the time of registration.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes, and we are glad you asked! We have an early bird, sibling, and multiple camp discounts available. (Only one code may be used)

  • Sibling Discount of 5% (for brother and sister campers)
  • Multi-camp Discount of 5% (for campers taking two more camps)
  • Early-Bird Discount of 10% prior to May 1, 2023

Are there any scholarships available?

Scholarships are not available for Summer Camp Season 2023. We apologize for any inconvenience but encourage you to take advantage of the available discounts.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations will be accepted for any reason up to 2 weeks prior to camp start date. Cancelations due to exposure to the Covid-19 Virus or illness will be accepted at any time. After the camp start date, refunds will be prorated based on the number of days the camper attended prior to the onset of symptoms. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF HE/SHE IS EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS OR HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS.

What if a session cancels?

If RCCC cancels a camp for any reason, you will be offered the opportunity to select another available session or be provided with a full refund.

Can sessions be changed after registration?

Transfers to another camp session may be made if space is available.

What about snacks and lunch?

You may send a snack or a drink for your child as you choose. Water will be provided. If your child is taking both a morning and an afternoon camp, a lunch break will be supervised.

How should campers dress?

Weather permitting, campers may go outside for some activities, so comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes (no flip flops) are preferred, as well as some sunscreen. No short shorts, tank tops, or offensive language on any article of clothing will be permitted. Please pack an extra layer in case the camper finds air-conditioning inside the building to be too cool.

What do campers need to bring/not bring?

All materials for camps are included in the registration fee. If your camper brings a cell phone, it can be used only for emergencies during camp time.

What if my child needs to take medications or has special needs while at camp?

Special needs should, to the extent possible, be specified on the registration form. Any prescription medication the camper must take during camp must be labeled from the pharmacy with the camper’s name; over-the-counter medication must be accompanied by a parent’s note and clear instructions.

How will the camp handle first-aid or emergency care?

First aid kits are available on all campuses. In the event of an emergency every attempt will be made to contact the parent or one of the specified alternative emergency contacts while seeking medical assistance.
