Testing Center

About Proctoring Services

The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Testing Centers are pleased to offer proctoring services, for a fee, to students and community members. Proctoring services can be utilized for a wide range of situations, such as admissions testing for other schools, distance education coursework, employment opportunities, certification examinations, or any other time a monitored testing environment is needed.

When proctoring exams, we ensure the integrity and security of the exam through identification verification and supervision in a secure environment. Trained test proctors are able to provide one-on-one monitoring of students through in-room seating, viewing glass, and continuous video surveillance. Partitions are also available for both computerized and paper-based testing to prevent visibility of others’ computers and to minimize distractibility.

All test-takers must present an acceptable form of photo ID to complete a test in the Testing Centers. Identification presented must be valid and without cracks or other potential evidence of tampering. We will accept the following forms of ID for proctoring appointments:

  • State issued driver’s license (temporary driving certificates are not accepted as identification)
  • State issued identification card
  • High school student ID (verifiable)
  • College student ID (verifiable)
  • Current federal-issued ID card
  • Current, unexpired passport
  • Tribal ID card

In order to maintain test integrity and security, all electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, Google and/or smart glasses, tablets, laptops, etc. will not be permitted into the testing rooms. Backpacks, coats, and large purses will also not be permitted. You will only be allowed to take into the testing room what is specifically indicated in the examination instructions. We do have lockers onsite to store personal belongings; however, the lockers will not accommodate large bags or coats. We recommend you leave such items at home. We will provide paper and writing utensils, as indicated on the examination.

All requests for proctoring services must be approved by the Director of Assessment and Credit for Prior Learning. Please contact Kathy Hall (kathy.hall@rccc.edu, 704-216-3468) to request approval in advance for proctored exams.
