Tutoring Center

Become a Tutor

Rowan-Cabarrus Tutoring Center hires both peer and professional tutors with a degree or college credit in advanced courses for the following subject areas: English (writing), math, science, business, computer science & technology, and foreign language. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, we encourage you to visit Jobs @ Rowan-Cabarrus to view our available positions.

Being a tutor is a rewarding experience where you get to share your knowledge with others and impact students in a positive way. In addition, our tutors often express how beneficial it is for them personally to learn the subject material in a new way, looking at it with fresh eyes and from multiple perspectives. Tutors offer students invaluable support and are an important and valued part of our department! If you enjoy helping others succeed and have strong communication skills, then please consider becoming a tutor at Rowan-Cabarrus.

Our tutors:

  • are part-time, working an average of 10-20 hours per week
  • have flexible schedules
  • work in person at our North, South, or CBTC centers
  • are provided paid training to become certified through the College of Reading and Learning Association’s International Tutor Training program
  • generally work during the hours of 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday

If you are a student at Rowan-Cabarrus and have taken and been successful in advanced courses here or at another institution, we would love to have you join the team!
