Meeting Spaces Online Tutoring Guide for Students
Is tutoring free?
Yes! Tutoring is free of charge to students currently enrolled in classes at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Where is the tutoring center located?
The centers are located in the libraries on both North and South Campus. At South Campus (Bldg. 1000, top floor), go inside the library and make a left. The center will be straight ahead at the end of the floor. At North Campus (Bldg. 500, top floor), go inside the library and take an immediate left. The center will be in the first suite of glass rooms on your left. The CBTC campus location is in Rm. 9202 on the second floor (the same floor as the main entrance). It is in the wing of classrooms furthest to the left when you enter through the lobby.
Do I need to schedule an appointment?
The only subject you need to schedule an appointment for is writing. To make an appointment, you can call, stop by in person, or schedule an appointment online by logging into your Navigate account. If you schedule online, you will receive an email confirmation with a link to reschedule or cancel your appointment if necessary. All other subjects are tutored on a walk-in basis only.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my session?
Yes, please make sure you come prepared with your class notes, text book, and assignment guidelines. For writing, bring a printed copy of your paper. For math, bring a calculator if necessary.
How do I sign in and out?
There are two ways to sign in and out of the tutoring center. You may use your student id card and swipe in and out at the front desk, or you may type in your student id number if you do not have your card with you.
Are there any rules about when I can attend the center and for how long?
One of the most important rules you must follow when utilizing the center is that you cannot be in the center when you are scheduled to be in class. If your class is canceled, please let the front desk associates know, and they will contact your instructor to verify. You may stay in the center outside of class time for up to three hours at a time, and you can utilize the center for an unlimited amount of hours each semester.
Do you offer tutoring online?
Yes! We have partnered with Tutor.com to provide all Rowan-Cabarrus curriculum students with the option of receiving tutoring in most subjects from off-campus 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. You can access Tutor.com through the link in your Blackboard account. Like all tutoring at Rowan-Cabarrus, Tutor.com is free of charge, but students are limited to 7 hours of tutoring per semester.
What is the difference between the Support Center and the regular Tutoring Center?
Support center tutoring is specifically for students taking the following courses: MAT 171/071 and MAT 152/052. If you are enrolled in one of these courses, you may attend tutoring in the Support Center. At North Campus, the Support Center is in Bldg. 300, Rm. 214. At South Campus, the Support Center is in Bldg. 2000, Rm. 2304. Support tutoring for ENG 011 will take place in the Tutoring Centers.
