Meet Reena. In 2019, Reena left the exhausting pace in her corporate job and entered the world of entrepreneurship like a force to be reckoned with – and she’s lifting as many women up as she can along her journey.

With her desire to move toward a more passionate and fulfilling career, Reena connected with her two business partners and became the global distributor for their Canadian company, MFLEURS. She loved the MFLEURS brand (M is for the co-owners last names and “fleur” means flower in French) and their focus on bringing luxury preserved eternal roses to their customers. It was the perfect time and opportunity to bring the brand to the United States. MFLEURS USA was born.

When asked what it means to her to run a woman-owned and operated business, she said, “It’s empowering. I was so sick of trying to prove myself in the corporate world. I was a miserable person. I refuse that anymore.”

As the CEO of MFLEURS USA, located in Concord, Reena has overcome many challenges including teaching herself how to navigate the hurdles of importing and exporting across multiple countries. However, Reena sought help from the Small Business Center at Rowan-Cabarrus when she encountered difficulty with growing the Canadian brand’s awareness on the local level.

Reena shared her marketing struggles with Meg, director of the Small Business Center (SBC), and was then connected to a marketing expert, contracted by the SBC, for some one-on-one sessions, at no cost to her.

Not only did she receive valuable insight and actionable steps, but she also took furthering her business education seriously and decided to try some SBC online workshops.

“The instructors weren’t advertising their services, they were teaching.” said Reena. “They were enabling and empowering me to do it myself. I found them to be good subject matter experts.”

As a self-proclaimed critical person, Reena was surprised to find that the workshops weren’t just geared toward start-ups. “You equate free workshops in the community to low level, but this is not that at all,” said Reena. “They are literally college level education moving at a high pace. If there’s a workshop, I’m there because I know they are a good use of my time. The workshops have not let me down yet!”

With an insatiable desire to learn and grow, and a love for every flower that is placed in the hands of her customers, the future for Reena and MFLEURS USA is bright.

“My goal is to always give the personalized experience,” said Reena. “When people walk out of here, they are happy with the whole experience. Receiving a non-traditional personalized and customized luxury rose box with roses lasting well over a year needs to impress the giver as well as the recipient.”

Always in pursuit of ways to lift other female-owned business, Reena is hosting a vendor fair ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday May 7th from 12pm-4pm outside of the MFLEURS USA location at 2319 Concord Lake Road in Concord.
