Rowan-Cabarrus Sustainability

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is committed to integrating environmental awareness and responsibility throughout the college community by educating those on our campus and in our community to be responsible stewards of our natural resources. We seek to foster environmental literacy among the campus community through academic and co-curricular avenues. It is our aim to involve faculty, staff, and students with programs and activities with the greater goal of building a more sustainable campus and community. Sustainability impacts all aspects of our life and we strive to become a resource that our campus and surrounding community can be proud of.

At Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, we would like to work towards the following:

  • Build knowledge, values, and skills so students, faculty and staff can participate in sustainable activities
  • Make sustainability convenient in order to develop daily the behaviors and changes they can incorporate in all aspects of their life
  • Develop campus facilities that serve as exemplars so others can learn about innovative sustainable systems and design
  • Work to incorporate sustainability into contracts, request for proposals, and procurement of college goods
