Campus Law Enforcement Policies

The timely, accurate, and thorough communication of information about emergency events and on-campus crimes is an important aspect of an effective public safety/security program. A primary purpose of the College Emergency Operations Response Plan (EORP) is to ensure that accurate information is provided as promptly as possible to help persons associated with the College, assess the safety and well-being of individuals and facilities, and ensure the College communicates accurate information in a consistent manner through authorized spokespersons.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College provides campus security through the use of several local law enforcement agencies and one private security company. Security on the North Campus is provided by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Security on the South, West Avenue and NCRC Campuses are provided by officers from the Kannapolis Police Department. Security at the Cabarrus Business and Technology Center (CBTC) is provided by the Concord Police Department. All local law enforcement agency officers are fully certified as law enforcement officers in North Carolina and are armed while on duty and have the authority to make arrests and carry out other law enforcement actions as they would elsewhere within their respective jurisdictions. P&G Security Company supplements the security program on all campuses as needed.
