Voter Sticker Design Contest

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is excited to announce the Voter Sticker Design Contest! To engage county residents in the electoral process, residents of Rowan and Cabarrus counties are invited to submit one design for each category and must include the corresponding text, “I Voted” -or- “I Registered.” Designs will be judged and winners selected by county in collaboration with the local board of elections. The winning design(s)​ for each county will be printed on stickers and distributed around the midterm election period in conjunction with community and campus partners. More details regarding distribution locations will be provided soon.

Eligibility

  • Interested participants must reside in either Rowan or Cabarrus County.
  • ​There is no age limit. Participants do not have to be eligible to vote.
  • ​By choosing to enter the contest, Participants must attest that they have read and agree to the contest rules and that the judges’ decision is final.

Contest Rules

  • Participants should utilize the template provided to create an oval sticker design.
  • Designs must include the words “I Voted” or “I Registered”. No other text is permitted.
  • Designs should be nonpartisan and should not reference any political group.
  • Designs must be original work and cannot use or reuse any imagery that is not theirs (no clip art or copyrighted imagery)
  • Designs must adhere to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Behavior Standards. No design that features threatening, sexually suggestive, or lewd content will be considered.

How to Enter

Designs may be created digitally or on paper. Designs created on paper must be photographed or scanned for entry. All submissions must be in .jpg or .pdf file formats.

Important Dates

  • Art & Design Department Voter Registration Drive begins September 1, 2022
  • The deadline for submission is Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
  • Winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
  • Voter Registration Deadline is October 14, 2022
  • Early Voting will be held on October 20, 2022.

Consent

By submitting to the contest, the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Voter Sticker Contest, the participant irrevocably grants their permission and authorizes Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and community partners to use the participant’s name, artwork, and photograph in advertising, marketing, and promoting the contest, and to reproduce and publish the same throughout the universe in perpetuity, in all media now known or hereinafter devised.

Participant further agrees to the following:
1. That the contest, their participation in the contest and all the contest elements belong entirely and exclusively to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, so that Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and its licensees and assigns may duplicate, distribute, broadcast, exhibit, or otherwise use the contest without limitation or restriction throughout the universe in perpetuity.
2. Participant understands and agrees that they will not own any rights in the contest or the contest elements or receive any monetary compensation relating thereto. Participant is granting Rowan-Cabarrus Community College a free, nonexclusive, irrevocable license to use their name, artwork, and/or photograph to fulfill the purposes of the contest in full or in part. Participant acknowledges that Rowan-Cabarrus Community College shall have no obligation at all to use my information in the contest.
3. Participant agrees that they shall not make any claims against Rowan-Cabarrus Community College based upon distribution or exploitation of the material or the contest and its elements to which they have consented. They release the Sponsor and its licensees and assigns from all claims and liabilities whatsoever that may occur in relation to or arising from their participation in the contest. They agree that this consent and release will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of North Carolina.
4. They agree to participate in the contest described in the Official Rules, they agree to follow the Official Rules, and they can accept any prizes that may be awarded to the winners.
5. They understand their name and other information that they provide, as described in the Official Rules, may be posted together with their submission upon the Rowan- Cabarrus Community College website and social media platforms, as well as other public forums, such as the media, without any additional notice to or permission by the participant.
6. They certify and acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to the Official Rules of the contest, and that they have read this Consent Form prior to submission; that they have the full authority to give their consent and release to participate in the contest and that they consent to provide the information that is necessary to enter the contest and if selected, to be awarded a finalist, runner-up, or winner. Accordingly, and intending to be legally bound, they voluntarily agree to the terms set forth herein and acknowledge and agree that they are bound by the Official Rules and they are bound by the terms of this Consent Form.
7. Participants understand that finalists will be notified on or around September 24th and must respond within 48 hours, or they risk forfeiting their entry.

Register to Vote

Register to Vote this September at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College!

The Art & Design Department at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will host a Voter Registration Drive throughout the month of September. The community is invited to visit Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s North Campus, located at 1333 Jake Alexander Blvd S, Salisbury, NC 28146.
  • Voter Registration will be available in building N107 and Faculty will be on hand to assist on Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Voter registration can also be completed online at Rock The Vote.
  • Voter Registration Deadline is October 14, 2022

Eligibility to Vote

Registering to vote is a simple process. You are eligible to vote as long as you can answer “yes” to the following statements:

  1. You have been a Rowan or Cabarrus County resident for 30 days prior to an election.
  2. You are a U.S. Citizen either by birth or naturalization.
  3. You are 18 years of age or will be as of the date of the next November Election.
      • A prospective voter can submit a registration form up to two years before his/her 18th birthday, if and only if he/she will be 18 at the time of the next general election. 17 year-olds may vote in a primary election if they will be 18 at the time of the general election.
  4. You are not serving a sentence for a felony conviction, including probation, parole, or post-release supervision.
      • Note: By order of the court, you may now register and vote if you are serving an extended term of probation, post-release supervision, or parole, you have outstanding fines, fees, or restitution, and you do not know of another reason that your probation, post-release supervision, or parole was extended.
      • Once you have completed a felony sentence, including any probation, parole, or post-release supervision, or received a pardon, you are eligible to register and vote. No additional documentation is needed.
      • If you have been discharged from probation, you are eligible to register and vote, even if you still owe money or have a civil lien.
